What to watch
in Indiatonight.
You pay for four or five streaming services and still spend forty minutes deciding. Not because there's nothing good — because the good things are scattered across Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar, SonyLIV, ZEE5, Apple TV+ and MUBI, and none of those apps knows what you watched on the others.
WTW is a small, free tool that fixes exactly that. You rate a handful of films and web series you've already seen. It works out what kind of viewer you are, then hands you a ranked list of what to watch next — with the IMDb score on every title and the Indian OTT platform it actually streams on.
Open WTW and rate a few →How WTW works
There's no quiz and no account. The whole thing takes about thirty seconds.
- Rate what you've seen. You get 42 titles most Indian viewers have an opinion on — Sacred Games, Panchayat, RRR, Kantara, Scam 1992, Money Heist, Breaking Bad. Four buttons per title: loved it, just okay, hated it, or not watched yet. Skip anything you haven't seen.
- Get your viewing persona. From three ratings onward, WTW reads your taste and issues you a certificate — one of eight personas, from The Slow-Burn Sleuth to The Interval Junkie to The Subtitle Nomad.
- Get the list. Every title in the catalogue carries tags for mood, pace, genre and language. WTW scores the rest against what you loved, subtracts what you didn't, nudges under-seen titles upward, and ranks the result. Each recommendation tells you why: because you rated Tumbbad and Kantara.
Marking something as not watched yet isn't a throwaway. It stays in your recommendations and gets pushed toward the top — a built-in "remind me about this".
Where to watch in India: the services covered
The hard part of "what to watch" in India is never the what. It's the where. Rights move between platforms every few months, the same film can be on one service in Hindi and another in Telugu, and half the good Malayalam cinema sits on a service you forgot you had. WTW labels every title with its current Indian home and lets you filter to the services you actually pay for.
Netflix India
Hindi originals like Delhi Crime and Kohrra, the Korean catalogue, prestige US drama, and a growing Tamil and Malayalam shelf.
Amazon Prime Video
Panchayat, The Family Man, Mirzapur, and the deepest South Indian library of any service — most of the best Malayalam cinema lands here first.
JioHotstar
Everything HBO and Disney — Succession, The Bear, Shōgun — plus 12th Fail, Manjummel Boys and a lot of Warner Bros. film.
SonyLIV
Scam 1992, Gullak, Rocket Boys, Maharani, and an unexpectedly strong run of Malayalam and Tamil releases like Bramayugam.
ZEE5
The Telugu version of RRR, Marathi cinema like Sairat and Killa, Punjabi comedies, and the occasional courtroom hit like Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai.
Apple TV+
A small catalogue with a very high hit rate: Severance, Slow Horses, Ted Lasso, Pachinko, Silo.
MUBI
The most underused subscription in India. World cinema — Korean, Japanese, French, Iranian — that isn't on anything else, curated rather than dumped.
Lionsgate Play
Where a few European series and specific films land — The Bureau, Gomorrah, The Killing.
What's in the catalogue
545 films and web series, chosen by hand rather than scraped. The test for inclusion was simple: is it worth an evening, and can you actually stream it in India? Roughly 26 languages are represented. The weight is deliberately Indian — around 350 titles — because that's where recommendation apps built elsewhere fall down.
Hindi
The obvious ones — Sacred Games, Mirzapur, Panchayat, Scam 1992, Gangs of Wasseypur, Andhadhun, Tumbbad — but also the shelf people miss: Eeb Allay Ooo!, Bhonsle, Titli, Soni, Gamak Ghar, Ship of Theseus, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Pyaasa, and the newer run of small-town series like Dupahiya and Gram Chikitsalay.
Malayalam
The strongest regional cinema in India for a decade and comprehensively represented: Kumbalangi Nights, Manjummel Boys, Drishyam 2, Bramayugam, Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, Aattam, Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam, Kaathal – The Core, Premalu, Manichitrathazhu, Kireedam and more than thirty others.
Tamil
Vikram, Kaithi, Asuran, Vada Chennai, Maharaja, Ratsasan, Super Deluxe, 96, Pariyerum Perumal, Kadaisi Vivasayi, Aruvi, Nayakan, Anbe Sivam, Suzhal.
Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali & more
RRR, Baahubali, Sita Ramam, C/o Kancharapalem, Mahanati; Kantara, KGF, Ulidavaru Kandanthe, Thithi, Lucia; Sairat, Court, Killa, Fandry, Sthal; Pather Panchali, Charulata, Meghe Dhaka Tara; plus Punjabi, Gujarati and Assamese films that almost never make it onto recommendation lists.
Korean, Japanese and world cinema
The K-drama shelf from Reply 1988 to When Life Gives You Tangerines; Bong Joon-ho and Park Chan-wook; Ghibli and Your Name; Dark, Babylon Berlin, The Bureau, Gomorrah, A Separation, In the Mood for Love, Capernaum, and a Turkish, Danish, Polish and Persian selection that only exists because MUBI exists.
English
The prestige canon — The Wire, Breaking Bad, Succession, Chernobyl — and the under-seen: Patriot, Mr Inbetween, Halt and Catch Fire, The Leftovers, Detectorists, Somebody Somewhere. Plus animation (Arcane, Vinland Saga) and documentary (The Last Dance, Wild Wild Country, An Insignificant Man).
Rare gems: the under-seen shelf
Every title in WTW carries a familiarity level — famous, well known, or rare gem. 278 of the 545 are rare gems: films and series with strong IMDb scores and critical reputations that simply never reached a wide audience. A Marathi film that played one festival. A Malayalam thriller that left Kerala with no dub. A cancelled US series that everyone who finished it still talks about.
Recommendations give these a small boost by default, so your list doesn't just hand you the same twelve things Netflix's home screen already did. Turn on ◆ Gems only and the entire app rebuilds around obscurity. Sort by Rarest first to browse them across the whole catalogue.
The eight viewing personas
Your persona is read from your ratings, not asked for. It's issued as a certificate — a nod to the censor card that opens every Indian film — and it shapes which titles rise to the top.
The Slow-Burn Sleuth
Patient with a plot. Impatient with a lie.You want the case more than the chase. You'll sit through two quiet episodes because you trust the third one, and you notice when a show respects the geography of a place.
- The Slow-Burn Sleuth — patient crime and mystery: Paatal Lok, Kohrra, Memories of Murder.
- The Interval Junkie — scale, swagger and set pieces: RRR, KGF, Vikram.
- The Comfort Rewatcher — warm, familiar, finishable: Panchayat, Gullak, Ted Lasso.
- The Subtitle Nomad — will follow a story to any language: Dark, Drive My Car, Kumbalangi Nights.
- The Nerve Ending — folklore, dread and horror that means something: Tumbbad, Bramayugam, The Terror.
- The Ground Floor Realist — small rooms, real stakes: Laapataa Ladies, Sthal, Eeb Allay Ooo!
- The Prestige Bingeer — the whole cathedral: Succession, Scam 1992, The Americans.
- The Head-Trip — sci-fi, mind-benders, formal weirdness: Inception, Legion, Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam.
Filters that match how people actually watch
- Only what I pay for. Tap the services you subscribe to and everything else disappears.
- One language. Pull only Malayalam, only Korean, only Marathi, across all 545 titles.
- Sort by IMDb, by best match, or rarest first.
- Skip what you've seen and it never comes back. Add to list and it's waiting next time.
- Open in the app. On a phone, the watch button launches Netflix, Hotstar, SonyLIV or ZEE5 directly and searches the title inside the app.
No account, no tracking, one-step save
Everything saves in your browser automatically. If you want to carry your ratings to another phone, pick a watch name — two seconds, no email or password — and copy a sync code. Paste it on the other device and your list, ratings and skips arrive intact. Nothing passes through a server. Add #digits to the name if you share a phone and want your list kept private.

How does WTW decide what I should watch?
You rate a few well-known titles. Every title in the catalogue carries tags for mood, genre, pace and language. WTW scores the rest by how much each shares with what you loved, minus what you disliked, then ranks the result. Three ratings is enough to name your persona; six or seven gives a sharp list.
Which Indian OTT platforms does it cover?
Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, JioHotstar, SonyLIV, ZEE5, Apple TV+, MUBI and Lionsgate Play. You can filter to only the services you subscribe to.
Is the "where to watch" always accurate?
It's a snapshot, refreshed periodically. Rights in India rotate without notice, so every title has a Check button that opens JustWatch India, which tracks all services live. Confirm before you plan an evening around a title.
Does it have Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and other regional titles?
Yes — around 350 of the 545 titles are Indian, across Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, Punjabi, Gujarati and Assamese. The language filter lets you browse any one of them alone.
Do I need to sign up?
No. Ratings and your list save in the browser on their own. A watch name and sync code are there only if you want to move between phones.
What counts as a rare gem?
A title with a strong IMDb score and critical reputation that most people have never heard of. 278 of the 545 titles qualify. A single toggle shows only those.
Is it free?
Yes. No ads, no affiliate links, no account.
